SUMMARY:PDC Event for Dental Hygiene Practice Owners: Dental Management for the Medically Compromised Client with Dr. Sanj Mohanta
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Sanj Mohanta will present Dental Management for the Medically Compromised Client during a special event. Delicious appetizers and refreshments will be served! Space is limited and advanced registration is required. \nThe objective of this presentation is to be confident and capable in managing patients who are medically compromised. We will discuss how to manage hypertension\, diabetes\, blood thinners\, bisphosphonates\, cardiac implants\, a history of stroke\, heart attack and joint replacements. This dynamic presentation will include current guidelines\, scenarios and useful resources. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nManaging clients who have common medical conditions\nUnderstanding when dental treatment is contraindicated\nPreventing medical emergencies and complications\n\nDr. Sanj Mohanta is a general dentist practicing in Brampton\, Ontario where she grew up. She graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry\, University of Toronto\, in 1999 and has a certificate in adult education. She associated in private practice\, taught at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene and now works in public health as a clinical dentist treating children and seniors. She was the past president of the Halton-Peel Dental Association\, is the Chair of the Ontario Dental Association’s Community Services Committee and founded the New Dentist Study Club.
